Sunday Edition Honored with 2 SGM FanFair Award Nominations

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Sunday Edition, one of Nashville’s favorite groups, was greeted with news this week that they have been nominated for two SGM FanFair Awards. The nominees for this year’s SGM FanFair Awards were announced this week in a special press release announcement.

Sunday Edition received a nomination for Favorite New Excelling Artist – an award that honors artists who are either new or excelling to new heights in their ministries. In addition, group member Chris Unthank received a nomination for Favorite Young Excelling Individual. That award honors young individuals who are making strides in their career.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be nominated in these two categories,” mentioned Deon Unthank of Sunday Edition. “We are honored that our family, friends, and fans would think enough of us to place a vote for us in these two categories! Thank you to everyone who voted for us!”

Chris Unthank said, “I am absolutely astonished to be mentioned in this category. We never go out and sing for any kind of acknowledgement or recognition. We do it because it’s what we’re called to do, and we have a real love for this music. We want to thank everyone who voted for us, as well as thank those who will continue to vote for us. These are votes of confidence in our ministry. We appreciate them more than you can imagine.”

The nominees in the SGM FanFair Awards were chosen by the readers of Christian Voice Magazine and attendees of the SGM FanFair. The winners for the awards will be announced on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Smoky Mountain Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee at the 6th Annual SGM FanFair.

Recording Follow-Up to Hit Single “He Bore a Cross”

Sunday Edition, one of Nashville’s favorite groups, was recently in the studio recording vocals for the highly anticipated follow-up single to the group’s biggest hit to date – “He Bore a Cross.”

The group is partnering once more with BSA World Records for this release – which was produced by Glen Bates (Crystal River, Tribute Quartet). Bates produced the critically acclaimed “He Bore a Cross” as well.

The song, titled “Mercy Walked a Road,” was written by Glen Bates and Glen Ashworth and is set to hit radio later this month.

“With the success that we had with ‘He Bore a Cross,’ it was a real easy decision for us to partner once again with Glen and BSA World Records,” mentioned Deon Unthank of Sunday Edition. “Glen has a real heart for this industry, and he really believes in us. We don’t take that lightly.”

“He Bore a Cross” became the group’s biggest hit to date earlier this year – giving them their highest charting position on the Singing News Top 80 (#44) and earning the group its first Top 10 New Release. In addition, the song landed Sunday Edition its second #1 hit on the GospelMusicTimes.com Top 40 Fan Chart.

The song has also charted on all major Southern Gospel charts – SoGospelNews.com Top 40 Weekly Chart, Christian Voice Magazine Top 100 Southern Gospel Chart, and PowerSource Magazine Top 100 Southern Gospel chart.

Sunday Edition has been recording vocals for a brand new album. Tracks for the new album, tentatively titled Sunday Worship, were recorded by Bobby McAllister for Salem Sound in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Sunday Worship is being produced and arranged by group members Chris Unthank and Deon Unthank with additional production by Steve Allen (Vestal Goodman, Gaither Vocal Band, Gold City). Vocals for the new recording are being recorded at Square One Studio in Franklin, Tennessee this month. Sunday Worship has a tentative release date of late Winter.

Until then, the group released the He Bore a Cross EP last month, which features the hit single “He Bore a Cross,” three songs from the upcoming Sunday Worship CD (“Follow Me/Precious Lord,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” and “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)”), and two songs from Chris Unthank’s upcoming solo recording Love the Light (“God Speaking” and “I Need Thee”).

SE Lands their second #1 hit on the GospelMusicTimes.com Top 40 Fan Chart

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Sunday Edition, one of Nashville’s favorite groups, has landed their second #1 hit on the GospelMusicTimes.com Top 40 Fan Chart.

The group’s current single, “He Bore a Cross,” reached #1 on this week’s issue of the popular fan-based chart.  The group previously had a #1 on the chart with their hit song “Naaman” – which spent three consecutive weeks in the top spot.

“We are continually in awe at the response that this song has received,” mentioned Deon Unthank of Sunday Edition.  “This song has been really special – creating many career milestones for our group – and this is just another added blessing for us!”

The GospelMusicTimes.com Top 40 Fan Chart is the only chart in the Southern Gospel community that is determined solely by votes from fans of the genre.  In addition to “He Bore a Cross,” the group’s previous single “Absolutely Free” is also charting on the Top 40 at #15 this week.  That song peaked at #3 on the chart earlier this year.

In addition to the GospelMusicTimes.com Top 40 Fan Chart – “He Bore a Cross” has seen a resounding impact on almost every chart in Southern Gospel music.  The song is currently #44 on the October 2009 issue of the Singing News Top 80 Chart.  The song also broke into the SoGospelNews.com Top 40 Weekly Chart – this week charting at #18.  “He Bore a Cross” is also charting on the Top 100 charts for Christian Voice Magazine and PowerSource Magazine.

Sunday Edition Scores Big Debut with “He Bore a Cross”

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Sunday Edition, one of Nashville’s favorite groups, scored a big debut on the upcoming October 2009 issue of the Singing News Top 80 chart.

The group’s current single – “He Bore a Cross” – debuted at #44 on the upcoming chart – becoming not only the group’s highest debut, but also their highest charting song to date on the industry’s most prominent airplay report.

“The reception that this song has had, both at radio and in live events, has been absolutely astounding to us,” mentioned Deon Unthank of Sunday Edition. “We’ve never had a song get such a strong response right out of the gate as we have with this song. Jackson Management Agency was established by Kyle and Tara Jackson in order to assist the independent Christian artist in establishing a successful music ministry. In addition to booking, the company works in management and publicity for the independent and new artist. In addition to Sunday Edition, the company currently has under contract independent artists in all genres of Gospel music including Encounter, Jeremy Vess, Tara Jackson, Mike Rayson, and more.

“There are instances in every artist’s career where they have an instant connection with a company,” said Chris Unthank of Sunday Edition. “We had that immediate connection with JMA. Sunday Edition Performs for NASCAR Fans

Sunday Edition, one of Nashville’s favorite groups, recently performed for fans of NASCAR this past weekend in Bristol, Tennessee.

During the fall NASCAR race, Sunday Edition performed a Saturday afternoon concert for fans of the event at the only non-alcoholic campground in Bristol, Tennessee – Peaceful Valley Campground. The trio also performed at a special chapel service held for campers on Sunday morning.
